Giovanni Battista Viotti (1755-1824) [Noteworthy contribution: Use of Tourte bow for new techniques]
- Viotti transferred the Italian tradition of violin playing to Paris. His students included members of the French Triumvirate (Kreutzer, Rode, and Baillot) and the founder of the Franco-Belgium School, Robberechts.

- Rodolphe Kreutzer (1766-1831) [Notable for "42 Etudes and Caprices;" Beethoven devoted his Violin Sonata No. 9 in A Major to him, although they were only acquaintances]
